Story for Mara

"Seiyu why are you hurt again?" his mother asked. "Were you out fighting again?" "No mom" he replied in a melancholic voice. "I fell down. I'm going to wash my face now." His black eye and bruised face did little to help his argument but his mother decided not to question him anymore. Seiyu was known for always getting into fights. He didn't want them, but people always seem to be looking for him. He was a good fighter, but he wanted to use them to protect his loved ones. He came from a middle class home with enough income to provide for the rent, costs of living, and to provide for him. He lived alone with his mother, and he always strives to make her proud of him, but that never was the case. He came home with bruises on him and his mother thought he was a delinquent. She didn't know he let himself get beat up and he didn't fight back unless there were other people with him. There was one thing unusual about Seiyu. He had an abnormal healing rate. He was tested by doctors and they couldn't figure out what it was. This was also another reason why he was a constant victim of other people's misdemeanors. They wanted to leave him with a scar but he always healed. The next day he woke up with a refreshed feeling and it looked like he never got into a fight the previous night. Usually Seiyu would go to school and encounter people who wanted to bully him more, but today he didn't feel like having to deal with them. He put on a black hooded sweater with the words "Slay Evil Immediately" inscribed on it in Japanese. They were a reference to a show known as "Rurouni Kenshin" which he remembered watching when he was younger. Aside from the sweater he also put on his favorite pair of jeans and some white shoes. "Mom, I'm going to school now." he yelled out to his mother. There was no response. This wasn't unusual. Whenever he came home bruised the way he was the previous night, his mother would not talk to him the following morning. He sighed and walked out the door. He knew his mother would look to see if he took the bus to school so he did that and got off the following stop. Seiyu was a city kid and knew his way around the city. Today, Seiyu felt like going to the park and that's exactly what he did. The park was an hour away and when he got there it was already 10 AM. He walked along the road inside the park until he found a spot which he believed to be secluded. He laid down and looked up at the cloud-filled sky. There seemed to be something unusual going on up in the sky. The clouds were there...but why could he see through them? "What the...why can I see through the clouds?" he thought as he looked at the vast darkness beginning to engulf the sky. He got up and began to run. The darkness seemed to be following him. What exactly was going on?! Did he do something to piss God off? "No that can't be." he thought to himself. The Earth began shaking. Was this the end of the world? BANG! Seiyu was abruptly woken up by some loud noise. Startled he looked around and saw smoke coming from the left and he began to walk toward it. After passing by some trees he eventually saw this girl on the ground and what seemed to be some machine. "Are you okay?" he asked the girl but he payed more attention to the machine. "Yeah I'm fine" this mysterious girl replied. "What happened?" he asked the girl another question. "Oh nothing I was just trying to work this machine. It was supposed to help me make something." Seiyu looked at her and was immediately drawn to the girl. She was wearing a tank top and some shorts which seemed unusual to Seiyu considering the slightly cold weather. "What were you trying to make?" Seiyu asked hoping to keep the conversation going. He wanted to know this girl better. "Well I was trying to make this reallllly big shirt." she replied. "How big exactly?" he asked. "Well...it's supposed to fit 1000 people." His jaw dropped. "What?" he questioned. "How in the world is a shirt supposed to fit 1000 people?! How will you even measure it?" he asked. "Well..." this mysterious girl began explaining things that Seiyu has never heard of but he just nodded along. "Okay...so what's your name?" he asked. "Mara. What about you?" "I'm Seiyu" he replied. "Well Seiyu can you try to help me fix this machine?" Mara asked. "I'll see what I can do" he replied. One hour later of following Mara's instructions they finished repairing the machine. "So why are you trying to make such a big shirt?" he asked. "Well you won't believe me if I told you, so I won't." she said. "Try me." he replied. "Well you know that Jack and the Beanstalk story right? How there's a giant up in the sky or something? Well this is like that...in the sense that this shirt is for a giant." Seiyu burst out laughing. It was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard. A giant? In this day and age? Just who was this Mara girl? "See I told you." she said scowling at Seiyu. "I'm sorry" he apologized, "it just seemed so unexpected." "I believe you" he lied. Despite this unusual thing about her, Seiyu thought he liked her. She was the most attractive girl he had seen for a while. "So just where exactly is this giant?" Seiyu asked expecting some crazy answer. "Well if you really want to know, I can show you." And with that out of thin air she procured a unusual flower. This flower was like none other. It was a Chrysanthemum mixed with what seemed like a Spiraea with what seemed every color on it. Mara tugged on the red colored part and then in what seemed like a millisecond he was in some unknown land. "What the hell?" he exclaimed. "Where are we?" he asked Mara. He turned around and he found no one next to him. Then he saw it. He looked up and saw the biggest "human" alive. "So she wasn't lying..." he thought. "Here's your food Gawl" Mara said to the giant. "Wait, what?" Seiyu thought. "This has got to be some bad dream" "It's so easy to trick these humans" Mara laughed. In a quick swift the giant swiped his hand down at an attempt to capture Seiyu. Seiyu quickly dodged and then began to run. "Running is futile against a giant" Mara yelled. "She's right.." he thought. All his life he was dealt with shit and he felt stupid for thinking this new person would have changed things. The giant was beginning to close in on him and then he was caught. "Why are you doing this to me?" he asked her. "Well Gawl needs food." she said indifferently. "Who the hell are you?" he asked. "I am the person who you think I am." she said. Then water drops began to fall on his face. It began to rain. "So it was just a dream..." he thought. "That was pretty freaky..." he said out loud. "What was?" a voice said. Seiyu turned around and there she was. "MARA?! YOU'RE REAL?!" Seiyu said with fear beginning to overtake his emotions. "What? how do you my name?" she asked. "What? What in the world is going on?" he said. "I saw you...in a dream I just had" he told her and he proceeded to detail her of the nightmare he just had. "Wow, what an unusual dream and imagination you have Seiyu" she said with a mocking look on her face. "So...you think I'm beautiful huh?" she said her expression changing cunningly. Seiyu began to blush. "I guess..." he said in a low voice. "Well look what we have here" another voice said. "Aw shit" Seiyu thought as one of the delinquents showed up. "This is too fucking cliched" Seiyu said. "Please go away I don't want to hurt you guys." Seiyu warned them. "Hurt us? You never stand up for yourself." the delinquent said. "So be it." Seiyu said and began to charge at them. What happened afterward was unusual. As Seiyu defeated the first delinquent the others were defeated by an unexpected person. "Mara...you could fight?" Seiyu asked. "Well yeah... I'm able to control a giant aren't I? A fight against these people is nothing" she said. "Wait so the giant thing was real?" Seiyu asked. "Who knows? It could be" she said. However, new to this you then proceeded to defense mechanism and made that giant that would have devoured you while making me evil, thinking that you can never have true happiness. But once again you didn't want this and made me the way you wanted me." she said. "So what you're trying to say is that I'm God?" he asked. "Something similar to it, yes. You are not yet an omniscient being but you are close to it, Seiyu" Mara said. "Your sweater reads that you will slay evil immediately and that held true when you saw those delinquents coming. You wanted to protect me which is what a "God" does to us humans in a way right? He gives us pain so we can learn from it. He gives us memory so we can remember all the good and persevere through the bad. We learn from our mistakes and we try to distinguish good from evil. We have war which despite all the bad, tends to procure good. We have to make sacrifices in this world and we die because we need to. Otherwise we all would be "God." " Mara said. "With the way you speak it seems like you're the god and not me" Seiyu said. "I'm the person who you think I am" Mara finished.

Read MoreBewildered by this sudden surprise he dropped the sandwich and quickly took the balloon and then looked toward the sky wondering how it reached him. After a minute or so of thinking he gave up his search and proceeded to look at the balloon. It was a red/gold balloon which had the words "Happy things come from unusual places." Wondering what these words meant he looked inside the balloon and found a twenty dollar bill inside. He pocketed the money and the balloon. After this, the boy went to the movies to see the movie he had been wanting to see but was unable to afford, until now that is. Pleasant with his unexpected circumstances the boy then went on to watch the movie and once it started the movie had abruptly stopped. Then he was disappointed when he had to leave since the movie was "Out of order" for the moment. However, he received a free movie ticket and was refunded his money after leaving. After this the boy decided to head towards the city where he had never really been before, for you see he lived in the outskirts of the city where things were not as great for him. Taking the train to the city he saw this girl who caught his eye and he proceeded to sit nearby her. As the train neared the city, the train broke down, and the boy thought his 20 dollar bill was the only thing going good for him. Having only eaten part of his sandwich the boy was hungry since it would have been his only meal for most of the day. After his stomach grumbled the girl nearby him heard this and she asked "Are you hungry? I have food and I don't think I can finish this by myself." The boy smiled and politely accepted this offer. After speaking with the girl it became apparent that she was from the city and she even offered to show him around once the train started working again. He asked if the train usually breaks down to which she said "No" and the boy then frowned, and smiled once again realizing that if the train never broke down, he would have never met this girl. After thinking this the train started up once again and they were in the city within 10 minutes. After exiting the train the boy looked around his surroundings, taking in everything and loving the beauty of city life. The girl asked him where he would like to visit, thus breaking the spell the city had set upon him. He then proceeded to simply tell the girl to lead and this is when another unfortunate incident took place. New to the city scene, the boy lost the girl during the havoc of all the people walking around and he stopped in front of a unusual looking store. The old store mesmerized him and he proceeded to go inside. Once inside a peculiar stench made him queasy and he began coughing and this is when a employee asked the boy if he needed anything. The boy looked up at the employee and was met with the most beautiful person he has ever seen. However, he felt that he had met this person once before. "Where have I seen you?" the boy thought out loud, and when realizing the words he had said, his face flushed with a vivid scarlet color. The woman smiled and grabbed the boy by the hand and took him into the back room. Surprised by this he realized there was a something more to the store and he was led past odd cages and animals, he was led past rooms and a door leading the outside, he saw the girl he had met on the train and yelled out to her and then out of her sight he went as he was led further to the unknown. For a long time they walked and he seemed to be leaving the city. He asked the woman where she was taking him but she did not answer. Then they came to a sudden halt. In front of him was a magnificent mansion with beautiful gates and he was lost in the beauty of it for a moment. The gates opened and he was led inside and once inside the mansion he was awed by its wonders. Below the glass floor was what seemed to be the ocean and a marble staircase with beautiful marble walls decorated the inside. He was led inside a room and then the woman spoke. "You are Hideki are you not?" she said with tears filling up her eyes. Astonished by this the boy asked "How do you know my name?" For as long he could remember he had been living in the outskirts since he was a poverty stricken boy with no family. The woman hugged him and proceeded to tell him who she was. "I am your mother." Shocked by this the boy was unable to say anything when the door burst open, and the girl he had met on the train entered. "So it was you Hideki!" yelled out and proceeded to hug him. Shocked by this the boy then looked around the room and saw a picture of a young boy, next to a young girl, with the beautiful lady all with happy looks on their faces. The boy then realized what had just happened. He had been reunited with his family. Then the boy felt inside his pockets and took out the balloon. "Happy things come from unusual places."
